Extension of some MAP results to transient MAPs and Markovian binary trees SI: Matrix-Analytic Methodology

چکیده
In this work we extend previous results on moment-based characterization and minimal representation of stationary Markovian arrival processes (MAPs) and rational arrival processes (RAPs) to transient Markovian arrival processes (TMAPs) and Markovian binary trees (MBTs). We show that the number of moments that characterize a TMAP of size n with full rank marginal is n + 2n − 1, and an MBT of size n with full rank marginal is n + 2n − 1. We provide a non-Markovian representation for both processes based on these moments. Next, we discuss the minimal representation of TMAPs and MBTs. In both cases, the minimal representation, which is not necessarily Markovian, can be found using different adaptations of the STAIRCASE algorithm presented in an earlier work by Buchholz and Telek (2011). Finally, we heuristically investigate possible Markovian canonical representations for TMAPs and MBTs of order 2.

متن کاملAnalyzing and modeling urban sprawl and land use changes in a developing city using a CA-Markovian approach
Mashhad City, according to the latest official statistics of the country is the second populated city after Tehran and is the biggest metropolis in the east of Iran. Considering the rapid growth of the population over the last three decades, the city’s development area has been extended, significantly. This significant expansion has impacted natural lands on suburb and even some parts e.g. rang...
متن کاملBinary Time Series Generated by Chaotic Logistic Maps
This paper examines stochastic pairwise dependence structures in binary time series obtained from discretised versions of standard chaotic logistic maps. It is motivated by applications in communications modelling which make use of so-called chaotic binary sequences. The strength of non-linear stochastic dependence of the binary sequences is explored. In contrast to the original chaotic sequenc...
متن کاملPerformance evaluation of EPM and MPSIAC Models for determination of Erosion Status of Shahriari Watershed
Soil erosion is one of the most important environmental issues in developing countries, including Iran that there is inaccurate information about its amount and distribution. For this purpose, the accuracy and distribution of erosion classes obtained from EPM and MPSIAC models as compared to BLM as ground truth values were evaluated in Shahriari watershed. First, the required data and informati...
متن کاملPlanning road network in mountain forests using GIS and Analytic Hierarchical Process (AHP)
Forest road construction is the most costly operation in forestry. Road designing and construction in unsuitable areas may increase construction and maintenance costs and also cause many environmental impacts. Therefore, it is required to pay more attention to forest road design. In this research, we tried to introduce an appropriate method for locating forest roads using GIS and AHP simultaneo...
